Completing tasks can be challenging due to multiple factors, including managing various components and coordinating with different individuals. If organization isn't your strong suit, it can further complicate matters. And procrastination can further contribute to the difficulty!
Here are the top three questions I've found helpful in achieving results, meeting deadlines, and supporting those I collaborate with to do the same.
Question #1 - "What are the next steps?"
This helps to define actionable next steps so the task does not stagnate, and there are fewer chances of mistaking ownership
Question #2 - "When can we connect again on this?"
Supports accountability by providing a deadline for next steps to be completed by a certain time
Question #3 - "When should I follow-up?"
An assertive, collaborative question that provides you with ownership of the follow-up and accountability to do so. It also sets the expectation of action items being fulfilled by all parties involved by the the follow-up point.
